WOULD YOU BUY A PRODUCT FROM A COMPANY WHO MISLEADS YOU UPFRONT?
The State of Minnesota Dept. of Health can hold companies liable for false and misleading advertising. All hearing professionals sign a statement annually from the MNDH that they will refrain from using false and misleading advertising.
Please be aware of some potentially false or misleading advertising in the area this quarter. We have seen an ad by a particular company who claims they are offering a stock reduction sale of 70% off. We feel this is a false statement. We have been in the industry for over 40 years and generally businesses do not carry over stock hearing aids. If we examine the history of this ad, it has been run at least a half dozen times in the past 4 months. This leads us to believe it is simply a sales ploy to get you in the door, then up sell the client with a “bait and switch” technique. If a company can reduce the price by 70% then they are charging way too much to begin with. Why would you want to do business with a firm that attempts to mislead you before you ever walk in the door?
A second ad we have seen recently is by a new company in town and they claim they are very honest people that do not deserve your money unless they earn it and would not dream of keeping it unless you are happy. Well that is an excellent policy to have, we approve completely. However, in the same ad they state they have a hearing aid for $995 that sells NORMALLY for $3,095, a savings of $2100.00. Honest people? Common sense tells you that this is ridiculous doesn’t it? Industry standard price for this particular hearing instrument is far less than claimed by this company. Once again, why would you do business with a company that makes these kinds of claims?
At Audibel Hearing Center, we believe truth in advertising should be the industry standard for marketing the business and we vow never to mislead the consumer. That is why we hold an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau for business integrity and customer service. Always use common sense when looking for a hearing professional, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
Please help support businesses who provide good services without making false claims to gain your attention.
